One of Chinatown’s newest additions is Hanlin Tea Restaurant, part of the popular tea room/hot pot chain from Taiwan. Diners are ecstatic over the arrival of Hanlin, calling it the “best Taiwanese restaurant in the Bay Area!”
The extensive Taiwan-style tea room menu features cold and hot teas, including black, green and oolong as well as their famous bubble tea (boba), tea lattes and honey tea. A list of “Taiwan Scholar’s Tea” offers premium teas such as Sun Moon Lake black tea, Sweet Osmanthus green tea and Tawian High Mountain Jinxuan tea.
Hanlin’s legendary hot pot features crisp green veggies in a tasty broth with generous portions of meat. Other traditional menu items include spicy noodles and noodle soups as well as a variety of authentic Taiwanese specialty foods such as asparagus with whitebait, spicy diced chicken, eggplant with sesame oil, three treasures beef and more. Don’t miss the affordable lunch specials like curry chicken or minced pork served with rice or noodles.
