What could be better than five hours of laughs presented by 40 comedians for free? Comedy Day in the Park is a much-loved San Francisco tradition now in its 38th year and everyone is welcome. In past years, as many as 50,000 people have gathered to have a chuckle or two.
The laughs start on Sunday morning, Sept. 18, 2018. From noon, the lineup consists of 40 acts of five minutes each, from fresh faces to veterans.
Bring a blanket and a picnic, or enjoy the wide range of food and beverages on sale in the park. Sam’s Clam Chowder, Slider Shack, Kabob Trolley, Lagunitas Brewing, Common Cider and Pat Paulson Vineyards are among those to expect.
Since the birth of Comedy Day in 1981, more than 750 of the world’s funniest comedians have performed gigs for about half a million appreciative people in the open air of Golden Gate Park, with the event moving to ever larger venues.
San Francisco's professional comedy community, municipal organizations, arts funds, media and a host of private sponsors join together each year to support the nonprofit group producing the highly-entertaining, most anticipated comedy event of the year.
Located just off of Bowling Green Drive, you will find Sharon Meadow situated right between Martin Luther King Jr. and Middle Drives. On Sundays, vehicles are not allowed onto Bowling Green Drive from John F. Kennedy Drive. If you rent a bike, free bicycle valet parking will be provided by the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition. Public transportation to Stanyan Street in Haight-Ashbury, located about 10 minutes’ walk from Sharon Meadow in Golden Gate Park, is via Muni bus lines #7, 21, 33, 66 and 71.
