We were on a narrated bus with Ray and Chin and loved it. We thought we would get off and on but ended up doing the entire city loop because our girls liked Rays jokes. My husband and I were happy to sit back and enjoy our coffee listening to all the info about the city and taking in the sights from the top of the bus. We liked being able to go to Alcatraz one day and then take the city tour another day so everything wasn’t crammed into one day. And I had emailed in questions prior to arriving in SanFrancisco and they were answered promptly. And when we arrived at the office, it was run very well. My kids are harsh critics and they really liked the Alcatraz and City tour combo.

It was great! The Alcatraz tour was so interesting! Highly recommend the audio tour which is free and narrated by former guards and inmates. Getting our tickets to get on the boat was really easy; we just showed them the emailed ticket we received from Bay City Guide and they said we were in the system. We did the double-decker tour bus the next day, and the guide was funny and very knowledgeable. We didn’t realize it would take us across the Golden Gate Bridge! That was a lot of fun! We will definitely recommend Bay City Guide tours to family and friends traveling to San Francisco! Eric and Jill Peterson East Peoria, IL

Really nice trip. But too many places to see in one day. I believe Alcatraz and city tour should be on separate days...

This was such good value for money and a must do for holiday makers new to San Fran. The bus tour was amazing and our Guide was knowledgeable and funny. He made the tour interesting with lots of interesting facts intermingled with good humour and his own experiences in the area. The bus trip covered a wide variety of areas in San Fran and was a highlight of our trip. Alcatraz was so much more than I expected and I was very impressed with the quality and content of the self guided walking tour. We loved every minute of our time in San Fran and the tour was excellent value and content!!!

We left it too late to buy Alcatraz tickets directly and this was the only site with availability during the few days we were in San Francisco. Hassle free picking up the tickets (some other sites I'd read had people chasing tickets all over the city). Alcatraz tour was fantastic. Bus tour was really good. Busy day doing them both together but thoroughly enjoyed it. On the bus tour it appeared that only every other bus had a live tour guide rather than the recorded headset. If you're an English speaker, try and get a 'live' bus as that was much better.

I purchased tickets from Bay City Guide only because the national park services was sold out of Alcatraz tickets. Not knowing the company, I was concerned that I wouldn't get the actual Alcatraz access tickets I wanted, but not only did I get the tickets I wanted but the check in at the national park services kiosk was so easy. The hop on hop off bus was okay, but probably not something I would have done if I didn't need the Alcatraz tickets. Some buses only have a taped guide, not a live guide, which was disappointing. The walking tour we did for the Barbary Coast was only ok, and it was unclear where to meet the guide and we were worried the guide was not coming. If you need Alcatraz tickets, this is a viable option, and for me was worth the cost for that alone. I would rate the whole package, however, as 4 out of 5.

The tour was a great price for everything included! Made playing tourist very easy. However, I felt the wording in the confirmation email was not very clear when compared to what I was told when checking in for our tours. Getting a direct phone number to the office was difficult, but once I got through, the staff was very helpful. We didn't get to take any of our walking tours, but the main tour and Sausalito were great to visit!

The Alcatraz tour was terrific. The Rangers on the island were very informative and interesting. It was unfortunate that our bus tour took longer than was anticipated and we were not able to stop at the Alcatraz pier at the end and had to walk back from the main bus terminal to the car.

Struggled buying Alcatraz tickets as I left it too late on the official site. I found Bay City Guide who offered the whole package including Alcatraz and the hop on hop off bus service which we wanted to purchase anyway. Amazing experience and easy enough to collect all tickets without any issues. Couldn't recommend enough especially if your struggling to buy Alcatraz tickets which is a must see!

We had an incredible time!! I waited until the week of our trip (of course) to book our tickets, by then we couldn't find any on the main Alcatraz website. Thankfully, a search took me to Bay City Guide where I was able to find this package. It included an Alcatraz Ticket with San Francisco Open Top Tour, Sausalito Trolley, 3 Walking Tours. We only had two days to explore after our work conference, so we only did Alcatraz and the Open top bus tour. We loved it! Alcatraz was incredible, and bus tour allowed us to explore the city and see where we wanted to visit next time (it was our last day in town). My only recommendation is if the weather is cold, bundle up! We were sitting on the top of the bus, and at times I was freezing. I ended up getting really sick when we flew back home. Anyways that's just a side note, this package is definitely worth it! Wish we had more time to explore everything included!!

Alcatraz was great - it's too bad we still have to stand in line for the ticket but understandable. Maybe it will change somewhere down the road. I couldn't locate the Sausalito Trolley and ran out of time The bus I couldn't use due to time constraints but overall your customer service was fantastic per my wife. Thank you!

We thought we had enough time to purchase Alcatraz tickets online and were devastated to discover they were sold out!! That is when I discovered Bay City Guide after some frantic Googling - and thank god I did! Purchasing this package was a lot more pricey but definitely worth it! The Alcatraz audio tour was fantastic and we were able to use the hop-on bus as a mode of transport so we ended up saving money on buses and taxis in the end! Thank you Bay City Guide - Our Alcatraz experience wouldn't have been possible without you!

Great tour! It was especially worth the trip to Alcatraz! My family really enjoyed it! The night tour was especially chilly (bring a jacket or a blanket) and I wouldn't recommend it with children, but for adults it was beautiful! The day tour really gives you the opportunity to see many of the highlights of San Francisco. As we only in town for 2 days, we did not take any of the walking tours, but still did the hop on hop off to see China town and various other sights.

We booked these tickets so we could go to Alcatraz and tickets were sold out on all other sites. We thought we had left it too late (booking only one week before) as tickets to Alcatraz sell out up to three weeks in advance. After a lot of searching I was directed to BayCityGuide. They had tickets which could not be found anywhere else! The booking process was straight forward and the tour itself was fantastic. It is THE thing to do when on a first visit to San Francisco and we would have been very disappointed not to have seen It. We didn't utilise the bus or walking tours.

This is a great package if you are spending 4 or more days in SF. The highlight of the package is the Open Top NIGHT Tour. SF at Night is very beautiful and should not be missed. The views of the city from Alcatraz are amazing and the ferry ride is nice. I didn't have time to do the Sausalito tour or the walking tours. I was in SF for 5 days over Christmas 2015.

We took this tour primarily to obtain Alcatraz tour tickets because none were available through the National Park concessionaire. That part of the tour was very nice and worthwhile. The hop-on-hop-off bus tour portion was a pleasant surprise. It was fun and well run. We only did one of the walking tours, which was less interesting. Overall the tour was expensive but not outrageously so.

I'll be honest, I only purchased this package because all the Alcatraz tour tickets were sold out for the dates we wanted but there were a few of these left. Alcatraz was amazing. Really fascinating being there and learning so much about it's story. We ended up taking the night and day open top bus tours since they were included and we really enjoyed them. The night time was our favourite because there was a live host who was quite funny and gave it a more personal touch then the pre-recorded tour on the day bus. Both were well done though and gave us an opportunity to see more of the city then we would have and were a welcome break from a lot of walking. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to take advantage of the rest (walking tours and Sausalito Trolley Hop) but I imagine they were well done. Definitely a great way to do a holiday to San Francisco!

My wife and I picked up the tickets in the morning of our Alcatraz Tour. We took the Alcatraz tour in the afternoon which was very informative. The next day, we started our 48 Hour Hop on and off San Francisco Tour that gave us 2 whole days of exploring San Francisco and we had 2 enjoyable days. Weather was perfect when we took the night tour. It was a very clear night to view the Golden Gate Bridge and enjoyed to dancing lights of the Oakland Bay Bridge.

Excellent service! We only used the Alcatraz portion of our combined tour due to time constraints, so I can't comment on the Hop On Hop Off or Walking Tours portions. I must admit to a little apprehension when the instructions said to pick up our tickets in a booth in the back of a Mexican restaurant. It turned out that they have a whole counter set up just for GuideYou tours, and it was clearly marked and easy to find. The people working the booth were friendly, helpful and professional. Our tour of Alcatraz was just wonderful, and GuideYou was able to get us last minute tickets when no one else was. I highly recommend this company!

Our family was in San Francisco for a three days weekend and decided on a whim to book this tour (we were distraught because we couldn't find many last minute tours - thank you GuideYou.Com!m We can't recommend this tour enough. The bus tour is great - being able to hop-on-hop-off on the bus was super convenient and you really do go all over town (don't get on at Union Square - the line is ridiculous. On busy days you may not get prime seats so I recommend starting at their first pickup point). The walking tours are fantastic, and of course Alcatraz was incredible too (had misgivings about the audio self guided tour on the island - but it is very well produced.). Even though you have to take a certain scheduled ferry to the island, you can stay as long as you want. It's wonderfully open ended and super convenient if you are not wanting to commit to one long tour - it's stretching your tour out though 48 hours. AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME.

Some buses had a tour guide and others didn't. I thought they all did. The recorded tour was OK but it seemed that people were having more fun with the "live" guide. Or maybe that was a different tour??
    Response from the Team
Thanks for your feedback. Most routes have the live narration during the peak hours. Occasionally you might encounter a bus without a live guide. The recorded narration is available in 9 languages.

The tour prices is great! We truely enjoyed Alcatraz. The tour bus is very efficient. We were not able to do the walking tours, simply ran out of time for the 4 days we were in San Francisco. The Alcatraz tour was excellent, the boat ride there was comfortable. The Big Bus tour was excellent as well. Our tour guide, Morgan, was very knowledgeable and colorful. I loved that we could hop on and off whenever we wanted. The walking tours, Chinatown and North Beach were also very interesting and the guides very knowledgeable. Our tour guide did not show for the Barbary Coast tour, but no worries, the tour company gave us complimentary tickets to Madame Toussaud's wax museum. This company is top knotch, professional and the tours are well worth the money. Highly recommend going with this tour company.

Five stars but some explanation is required. We only booked this tour because they had tickets to Alcatraz when just about everywhere else was sold out. So we sucked it up and paid up. The agent at the kiosk was very helpful and gave us some great suggestions. Firstly, she suggested we try and take the bus tour later in the afternoon/evening. Your 24 hour window starts when you redeem your vouchers with the bus folks. So we hung out on the wharf in the morning, visited Alcatraz in the afternoon and took our bus tour at 5:30 (last bus is 6). We didn't hop on or off but we got a great preview of the city for the next day. We were able to hop off and on at our leisure the next day and used the bus to get to the walking tours. We did the Chinatown and North Beach walking tours and learned a lot about SF that we would have never known without taking the tours. Both tour guides were clearly passionate and knowledgeable regarding the area. So if you take your time, utilize the walking tours and maximize use of the bus, this is a good deal for a 2-3 trip to San Fran. Had we been able to purchase tickets from Alacatraz Cruises directly, we would have never used this site but we took advantage of the services they offered and learned a lot. Word to the wise, some buses are live guides and some are headphone recordings. We had Christine for our evening drive and she was awesome. Morgan took us through North Beach and while the tour wasn't my thing necessarily, it was clear he knew his stuff and loved it. We actually ran into him in street clothes later on in the day in the same neighborhood he walked us through, presumably heading to his regular spot for a drink as he told us about on the tour.

You guys were great to work with. Loved alcatraz, but didn't have time to do the bus tour or the walking tour. We are hoping to come back and do those things another time to see the part of San Francisco we didn't see. We underestimated the time to get from point A to point B. Thank you so much for being so personable and helpful.

We found Alacatraz very interesting = the history, the guided tour (earphones) helped and once on the island we also had the opton of a tour guide to follow if preferred. We did a bit of both. The 24 hour hop on hop off bus was also a fun expererience and very handy to get on and off against at our leisure. Our verbal tour guide on this 24 hour bus had us in fits of laughter with his commentary. Very enjoyable. We only had the time for one walking tour and David was very informative & extra helpful with all our questions.

Unfortunately I did not have time for any of the walking tours. But I would recommend this tour to others.

The Alcatraz Tour was well organised. Hop on & off bus was great. We were able to exchange our voucher directly on the bus so we didnt have to go looking for the tour operators premises. This meant that we could catch the bus directly from our accommodation in Union Square and didnt need to make our way to Fisherman Whalf, which in peak hour was very difficult. We found the hop on & off bus the easiest way to get around San Francisco so we could see everything. Buses ran regularly. We were only able to do one walking tour, Chinatown as we wanted to do our own thing, but the walking tour guide was polite and helpful.

The Alcatraz tour was an unforgettable experience. The audio tour was phenomenal and well worth every penny. The hop on/hop off tour was incredible. The commentary was equally as enlightening. The atmosphere was very relaxed and I completely enjoyed the day. Given my limited time, we didn't do the walking your. Give yourself at least 2 days to enjoy all 3 aspects of this amazing tour package!

Bought this package as a way to get Alcatraz tickets last minute. Figured it was just a penalty for waiting so long (paying more than double the cost of a ticket). We had time so we went ahead and took the bus tour. Turns out it was actually a great tour. Really enjoyed the Big Bus tour. Never did the walking tour. Just stayed on bus - not enough time to get off and still finish the tour in time for the Alcatraz ticket time. Pleasantly surprised at the final value of this package.

It was very helpful and we didn't have to worry about our motorcycle while we were gone to Alcatraz Island. The On and Off bus tour was great. Everything was excellent. We did Alcatraz and one of the walking tours (Chinatown). We had lunch at the Emerald Pearl and stopped by the first fortune cookie where we had fresh warm fortune cookies not even rolled. How amazing!! We did the Big Bus Hop on Hop off tour and saw all of the sites. I ran the San Francisco marathon and go to truly experience the city of San Franciso especially running across the Golden Gate Bridge....I took the Bart to downtown Berkely. I ran the F cable car for several days during my stay and truly truly experience enjoyed the city. Thank you so much for the experience. It was truly worth every penny.

We then had the bus your which was excellent, our guide and driver was very informative, again we learnt lots of things you wouldn't otherwise know. I particularly liked the 3 walking tours as the guides were both absolutely excellent - Morgan and whoever guided us the morning of Nov 25 around North Beach; wish I could remember his name. I would recommend the tour, but be sure to wear warm clothes on the open bus tour! Thanks, Vicki

The tour was good, we got to see many of the areas of San Fransisco that we wanted. It went over the Golden Gate bridge, and into a small town which I would've never have known existed. Alcatraz was amazing as well! The tour bus was kind of like a smaller school bus with no top, which makes it cold with the chilly San Fransisco weather. Our tour guides (Guss I believe?) was very good. He had a funny, outgoing personality and made the tour fun. I would recommend this tour.

We had a great time visiting Alcatraz and on the open top city bus tour. Our bus guide Victoria made the tour fun and was very entertaining while also being very informative. We appreciated the fact that the smaller bus allowed us to go places that the giant double decker buses cannot go. Our driver did a great job getting us through traffic and to our destinations in a timely manner. We did not have time due to our departure times to go on the walking tours, but the instructions for those were clear and easy to understand. A good time was had by all.

TOP TIPS AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS REVIEW! Was a little unsure initially of this, as I had found it close to the last minute before my trip to the States. When we arrived on the morning of the tours, I couldn't have been more delighted. The tour staff seemed highly organised and the tour of San Francisco with Guss and Mike was one of the better tours I have been on. The Alcatraz tour is the standard tour run by the National Park service allowing you to roam Alcatraz and make it your own. We did the walking tours on the next two preceeding days as there is definately not enough time to do all the tours on the same day. We did the combined China Town and Barbary coast tour on the day after the bus tour and Alcatraz. The tour guide was really good and our little group explored all over hearing loads of interesting information and we got to know some of the other travellers a bit. TOP TIPS Make sure you turn up early to get your tickets as there are a lot of people, but it also gives you a few minutes to either grab some food from the cafes (a few by the pickup) or buy a hoodie or jumper if needed (its an open top bus) Don't try and do all the tours on the same days. By spreading them out, we found we could then go back and explore further ourselves after the tours, getting more out of our shopping and eating experiences as we had just had certain things pointed out on the tours. GET A MAP and maybe jot down places you want to revisit - makes life a whole lot easier.

We had a great time on our San Francisco tour. The tour guide was wonderful. He had so much information on the history of the city and also gave some ideas where to dine and shop. They brought us a few different places on the bus to show different spots to check out the Golden Gate Bridge that we wouldn't have known about if we wouldn't have taken a tour. I was really impressed the knowledge and how friendly they were. Our Alcatraz Tour was great and was nice to have the tickets ahead of time to show up for the boat ride to the island. I would definitely recommend GuideYou for your next tour package.

Great tour, well organized and great guide on the SF tour. Originally booked this tour as it was the only way to get Alacatraz tickets but the city tour was an added bonus. Unfortunately we didn't have time for the walking tours as flight issues delayed our trip into SF by about 18 hours. Because our flight into SF was cancelled (our tour was to begin the next morning) we had to make last minute changes and the company was very understanding and accomodating which was much appreciated. Only minor complaint might be that the stops during the SF tour were very short and it was a rush to see the sights and take some pictures. Our family of 5 enjoyed the experience.

Our San Francisco tour was fun and interesting. Our guide had impeccable timing and he ensured we arrived prior to other various tour groups who were scheduled to arrive so our photographs would be the best they can be. He even shot some photos for us, as he was a retired professional photographer. Our guide had a great sense of humor and was fun and quirky in all the right ways. We would definitely recommend him to others looking for a great tour guide experience. We cannot speak to the walking tours as we did not have time to take advantage of them. Alcatraz was great and the audio tour is a must. It was incredibly informative and kept our interest the entire time on "The Rock." We even met a former inmate who was holding a book signing event in the gift shop. This was definitely a worthwhile experience for us and we recommend it to anyone visiting the San Francisco area.

We took the tour bus and Alcatraz portion and LOVED them. Gus, our guide, was fantastic. He was very informative and had a funny sense of humor. Rich, our driver, was considerate about lingering a moment for us to get pictures. The bus your took us to most everything that we wanted to see in SF (Palace of Fine Arts, the Painted Ladies, Haight Ashbury, Golden Gate Park, Sausalito, the Presidio). Those that it didnt take us to, we were pointed in the right direction for when we were on our own (Coit Tower, Lombard Street, Pier 39 Sea Lions, Muir Woods) Very informative and fun tour. I would definitely recommend it to other people. The bus dropped is off at Pier 39 so we could grab some lunch before our Alcatraz outing.

You were able to walk through some of the cells to actually get an idea of how small they really were. Took us to sites that were not included in the hop on hop off tours so allowed for seeing other parts of San Francisco city. Bus tour guide was very, very thorough during the trip. We ended up getting a hop-on-hop-off bus ticket in place of the 3 hour tour, which was not offered the day we went, and it worked out beautifully. We got to enjoy the city at our leisure and hear great commentary from the tour guide before heading to Alcatraz (which we would not have been able to see otherwise, as the day was sold out!). We ended up seeing a lot of interesting areas in the city that we would not have thought to explore on our own. We unfortunately could not take advantage of the walking tours, as we only had the one day in San Francisco, but we enjoyed everything else!

The guide was very knowledgeable and gave us a great insight into this beautiful city. unfortunately we didn't have enough time to do the walking tour but they assured us if we came back we could just give them a call to join the tour.

We really enjoyed the bus tour of San Francisco. It's a great way for first time visitors to the city to see a lot in a short time. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and informative so we learned a lot about San Francisco. The Alcatraz tour was also very enjoyable - the audio tours provided on site were very thought provoking. We missed the North Beach walking tour unfortunately because we were leaving San Francisco the next day. Something for next time! All in all we were glad we booked these tours. It was a great day!

Great way to start your first trip to San Francisco. The bus tour gives you a good idea where everything is at and what you might want to revisit. Then they drop you off right at the pier for Alcatraz tour.

This is a great tour particularly if you can't get a tour to Alcatraz alone; you really need to book in plenty of time if you want to do this. More costly yes but well worth it. The bus tour is great and you get to see the best sites in the city. GUide was knowledgeable and engaging. Thoroughly recommend it.

Great tour of San Fran on the party bus, with a very knowledgeable driver who kept us humming with appropriate theme music for the various areas visitied. The Alcatraz Tour was fantastic!..and this tour was the only way I could've purchased an Alcatraz tour as they were sold out, so it was a life savor for me and my son. The new self-guided MP3 tour of the prison is awesome, very well produced with actual voices of the prisoners and the guards leading you around the prison, really made you feel like you were there in that hell-hole. All n all the entire day was spectacular...kudo's to the staff!

Alcatraz was fine, lots of time provided to see the place. The self-guided tour was excellent. Also enjoyed the ferry to and fro. Chinatown walking tour fun and interesting. North Beach tour not so interesting and not so fun. We were herded into the Jack Kerouac place and were there far too long. These sorts of stops should be very short, allowing those who have the interest to know about it and go back later.

First off, I tend to dislike guided tours. I am more of a research and do-it yourself kind of traveler. However, when I saw that all Alcatraz tickets were sold out, I had to get over my anti-guided tour inclinations and just go ahead and buy a tour from Guide you. It was the only place that still had Alcatraz tickets for the dates I would be in San Fran. You know what? I loved the guided tour! It took me to the places I was not going to be able to reach during my short stay, and it was very informative as well. Unfortunately, I did not go on the walking tour, but I am sure if the bus tour was any indication it was probably pretty cool as well. And, most importantly, I got to go to Alcatraz :-)

Both the Alcatrez and Chinatown walking tour were a great experience. Out Chinatown guide Ms Victoria was very warm and welcoming. She had extensive knowledge about the SF city and provided us with a lot of information.

  • Posted Aug 25, 2012
Our guide and driver rewarded us for being prompt with our allocated times at specific locations. An unexpected drive through Haight- Ashbury was such a welcomed treat!!! Knowledge and background info into City Tour gave so much more meaning about the points of interest. Highly recommended. A ticket to Alcatraz during August is not the easiest to obtain, especially when you've left it to the last minute. Thanks to GuideYou I made it to Alcatraz. Wow!!! Didn't have enough time in San Francisco to do the Chinatown walk. As the ticket was transferable, I was still able to give it to a friend. Next time I'm in San Francisco I will be using GuideYou for sure. Don't waste time checking out other tour companies.

Had a great time! We did the Alcatraz tour on Saturday at 11am and the city tour at 3 pm that afternoon. Alcatraz is self-paced with audio and it was wonderful. Did the city tour with an excellent tour guide... ran out of time for the Chinatown walking tour since we did the wine country tour on Sunday. Would highly recommend this tour package and company! Everything was well organized!

The ferry to Alcatraz and the tour, complete with audio supplies, was also quite good...we appreciated being able to wander and listen and stop as necessary. Victoria is one of the most enthusiastic tour guides we've ever met! She really knows her stuff and makes you want to stop and have that wonderful coffee at Cafe Trieste!!! Please keep up the great quality. Thank you.

We booked this tour through for one reason only - we couldn't get Alcatraz tickets anywhere else as they were all sold out. We were a little skeptical about booking through a broker as we just couldn't understand how they could be selling tickets that were unavailable everywhere else, but we booked anyway on the hope it would turn out to be as good as it seemed. It was! We very quickly received a confirmation email containing all the information we needed and explaining that the Alcatraz trip would most likely be at 3.20pm rather than a morning one as these tickets were more readily available - we would have preferred an earlier one but at least we were going to get tickets. We arrived to collect our tickets at the given time and found to our delight that they had managed to get tickets for the 1.10pm boat to Alcatraz, giving us much more time on the island. The first part of the experience was the 3 hour city tour which set off at 9.30am on an open top tour bus. We really enjoyed the tour, the bus was comfortable and offered great views of the sights, the tour guide was incredibly well-informed and very enthusiastic too which made it all the more enjoyable. The only thing we didn't enjoy was that it was absolutely freezing! We went on a particularly cold, foggy San Francisco morning so the first hour of the tour was pretty chilly and foggy (as can be seen from the photograph) - but that can't be helped! They also offer an afternoon tour which I think would be more enjoyable as the weather tends to warm up by lunchtime and the fog burns off. Inclement weather aside, the tour was absolutely fantastic and you really do get to see everything worth seeing in the city. The second part of the experience was the trip to Alcatraz. We had really been looking forward to seeing Alcatraz and as I mentioned earlier, these tickets were the only reason we actually booked the triple experience in the first place. The time they managed to get for us was great, we got on the 1.10pm ferry across and could have stayed until the last ferry back at 6.10pm if we so chose. I don't think I really need to say too much about Alcatraz as I'm sure everyone who wants to visit already knows all about it and it doesn't really reflect on this company - they just provided the tickets. It was great though! The final part of the experience was the 2 hour walking tour of Chinatown. We took this on a different day the the other two parts which meant we had something to look forward to on another day. What the information doesn't tell you is that the walking tour is actually of the Little Italy and Chinatown parts of the city - an hour in each place. The Little Italy section of the tour was interesting, the guide told us about the buildings and the history of the area and about some of the famous writers who frequented the area. She obviously knew the area well and had lots to tell us - our guide actually lived in this area of the city. We then moved onto the Chinatown part of the tour - once again she pointed out some of the more interesting buildings, told us some of the history of the area and showed us where some of the best restaurants were. We spent a large portion of the tour in a tea shop enjoying a free tea tasting - this was very interesting but the only criticism I have is that anybody can walk into the shop and have free tea tasting, so we could have done this ourselves without paying for the privilege. The final part of the tour was a very brief visit to the Fortune cookie factory - we were there a total of 5 minutes. This was billed as the 'highlight of the tour' and I was slightly disappointed, it was just a tiny little room with people sitting rolling fortune cookies. It would have been more enjoyable had we been able to stay a little longer and watch, and perhaps had we been given time to decide if we'd like to buy something but unfortunately another enormous tour group arrived almost at the same time as us so we had to leave quickly. All in all we enjoyed the walking tour and it was definitely worth going on, but don't get too excited about the fortune cookies! We would definitely book with again - the tours were fantastic and so was the service. For anyone who is feeling like we were (a little skeptical about the legitimacy of the tickets) please don't worry, they are completely genuine!
    Response from the Team
Thanks for taking the time to share your experience. Here's how has Alcatraz tickets for sold out dates: Our vendor has an annual contract to purchase blocks of Alcatraz Tickets. These tickets are purchased a month in advance. Alcatraz is a National Park and the Park Service mandates that these tickets then can only be resold in tour packages and cannot be sold separately. If our calendar shows a date as available then still have tickets at that time (though quantities may be limited). We do sell out also so book early if you want to "go to jail".

Used this to get last minute Alcatraz tickets. Alcatraz of course is great. The Chinatown Walking tour was great. The tour was more of North Beach than Chinatown. The guide was very knowledgeable, kept our interest and made it fun to walk around up and down the hills of the city for 2 hours. The 3 hr. city tour was fun but we had to jump off the bus early because it was running over time due to traffic and we had another commitment.

I was reluctant to book this tour on-line and pay in advance, but it was the only tour where I could get to Alcatraz. It was a great tour. The bus was open and not double-decker, and covered most of the city with 70's music playing in the back. (I am not sure what they would do in bad weather.) The Alcatraz tour was at 3:20 which didn't leave us enough time to stay on the island but was great. I thought the walking tour was worth it, especially for those of us that grew up in the 70's. It wasn't as relevant for the kids but Tara was cool and knowledgeable. All in all, a great deal. I would give it a 5 had we got to stay in Alcatraz longer.

This was well worth the money. Did not get to to the walking tour but thoroughly enjoyed the Bus tour and Alcatraz. We saw so many things on the bus tour - even the Golden Gate Bridge which I did not think we were even going to drive on. This tour is well organized the the guides were fantastic and knew their stuff. We were right at the back of the bus and had no issues hearing. Just make sure you bring a jacket or sweater as it is chilly. Alcatraz was fantastic. The pier was a little bit of a walk but nothing to really complain about (10 minutes). Thanks for the great adventures. Totally recommend this tour.

My wife and I booked the Alcatraz+City Tour+ Chinatown tour because it was the only way that we could get Alcatraz tickets since they had sold out. We really ended up enjoying the 3 hr. city tour. Our guide was both entertaining and informative. The only downside is that the walking tour is advertised as a Chinatown walking tour, but most of the tour is of North Beach. The guide was friendly as well though. So, overall we were satisfied with this tour.

This package was terrific (helped by some great San Francisco weather that allowed us great views from our vantage points). We really enjoyed the city tour. It gave us a great overview of the city and took us to places we would not have gone ourselves. We could have used more time in Golden Gate Park to see the Japanese garden. Alcatraz was great. The ferry was easy to catch, and we had plenty of time to explore the island. We did not take the Chinatown walking tour because we had already been through it. I would recommend this package.

Our trip was great. This was my first time in San Francisco and I really enjoyed it. The Alcatraz tour was very informative. Walking around with the audio made it more intense, as if you were living what was happening in the story. The Chinatown tour and Double Decker Bus tour were fun. We experienced S.F. by walking around each neighborhood and we saw how busy it can get while riding on the bus. I would love to go back and see the rest of the city and also visit the Golden Gate bridge. This trip was too short, but a great experience for being a first time.

Overall a good experience, but we didn't hear 90% of one of the bus tours that the lady from New York did, because speakers in the back of the bus kept shorting out. The Chinatown tour was very good, but I was very curious why there was no mention of Bruce Lee, the world renowned martial artist, since he was born in San Fransico, and lived there for many years.

This is the only way to get Alcatraz tickets during summer. I got this package only for the Alcatraz ticket but was very satisfyed with the package. The North beach/ Chinatown walking tour surprised me. You get to see much more than when you do it on your own. The guide knows everything about these districts their history and people who lived there. The double decker city tour is very classy but a good way to see the main attractions of the city center in 1hour. Not very usefull if you stay a week in the city.

The staff is neither friendly nor helpful. Girl at desk in office talked on phone whole time leaving only one agent helping clients. Our tour bus guide was excellent. He knew his stuff but made culturally insensitive remarks in regard to several sites. He did not allow pushy tourists to crowd the bus seating. Walking tour was really good. We wanted more emphasis on Chinatown, however. Really liked the Fortune cookie bakery. Returned next day to purchase cookies to take home. Our guide took us to businesses that she personally promoted which is suspect in our opinion. Included were other sites fortunately. Most of tour group ate at the Italian restaurant she recommended. Alcatraz was AWSOME. Wish we had more time (we took an afternoon time). Plan at least four hours to thoroughly tour.
    Response from the Team
Mary, you make a good recommendation that 4 hours of time on the "Island" to really experience AWSOME Alcatraz is necessary. It sounds like you had mixed experiences overall on this tour but it still earned 3 Stars.

Alcatraz was a little disappointing, some areas were closed so you could not tour the whole island, the gift store was amazing and the boat option getting back to San Francisco from Alcatraz periodically was convenient. Chinatown was too long but very interesting as far as the history went. The City Tour was okay but the tour guides micro-phone was malfunctioning so we could not hear him or understand him very well.
    Response from the Team
Patricia - thanks for your feedback. The prison opened in 1934 and sustained damage during the Native American occupation as well as from the harsh weather conditions. Some areas of the Island are closed for public safety while other areas are protected natural habitats. With that said, the main cell block, prison yard, guard station and several other areas are open to the public. On the night tour visitors can view the hospital as well.
