The annual party is an all-day affair, attracting both visitors and residents to PIER 39 to celebrate America’s 243nd birthday. PIER 39 has a family entertainment day planned. Check out special exhibits west of the PIER 39 Entrance Plaza from 11am-5pm.
Everyone will be looking for a place to perch for the elaborate fireworks display that begins over San Francisco Bay at approximately 9:30 p.m. The best location to enjoy a festive Fourth of July is at PIER 39, or other waterside locations with a view, including: Marina Green, Crissy Field, Aquatic Park, Ghirardelli Square, Coit Tower -- or even from a bay cruise that passes right under the Golden Gate Bridge!
Spectators should note that road closures will occur at various times throughout the holiday weekend. Street traffic, parking, the Powell-Hyde cable car line, the F-Market streetcar, several Muni bus lines and public transportation in and around the Golden Gate Bridge, The Embarcadero, Fisherman’s Wharf and PIER 39 will be affected.
